Project Finance Officer
Mr. Esaúl Ramírez serves as Infrastructure Financing and Officer at the North American Development Bank (NADB), a binational lending institution headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Owned in equal parts by the US and Mexican governments, NADB’s mission is to develop and finance sustainable infrastructure projects located on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Mr. Ramírez has over 16 years of experience in the traditional and renewable energy sectors, including 9 years at NADB. In his current role, Mr. Ramírez is responsible for originating, structuring and closing Project Finance loans for renewable energy projects located on both sides of the US-Mexico border region.
During his tenure at NADB, Mr. Ramírez has worked on more than 20 successful transactions, totaling approximately 2 GW of solar and wind generation, including 3 transactions in California, one of them being the 265.4 MW Ocotillo Wind Project, named “Renewable Project Finance Deal of the Year” by Power Finance & Risk magazine in 2013. Most recently, Mr. Ramírez led a syndicate of lenders in the closing of loan for a 250 MW wind project in Nuevo León, Mexico, the first Auction-related wind energy transaction post energy reform in Mexico for NADB.
Prior to NADB, Mr. Ramírez served in various capacities at New Mexico-based PNM Resources, Inc., an investor-owned energy holding company.
Mr. Ramírez earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Summa Cum Laude, and received his M.B.A. in Finance and International Management from the University of New Mexico.
