K.C. Hairston is a partner at Balch & Bingham LLP where his practice focuses on energy trading, power purchase/sale contracts, FERC/NERC/NRC/DOE/CFTC compliance issues, nuclear power, energy-related legislation, energy-related litigation, power plant construction and transmission issues. He advises clients on all aspects of the Dodd-Frank Act and its impact on energy-related products and routinely meets with FERC and CFTC staff regarding Dodd-Frank Act implementation issues. K.C. is a member of EEI's Contract Drafting Committee, WSPP's Contract Committee and IECA's Contracts and Legal Education Group Committee.
K.C. earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law. Prior to joining Balch & Bingham LLP, K.C. interned as an engineer for Southern Company Services, Inc. and Bechtel Engineering, Inc. at various coal, nuclear and gas power plants. K.C. also serves as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Birmingham since being appointed by Birmingham Mayor Bernard Kincaid in 2003.
